MOT stands for Ministry of Transport and which was the Government department responsible for the roads when the MOT was first introduced in 1960. The Ministry of Transport enforce the health and safety standards among vehicles.
An MOT Checker checks your vehicles MOT status and returns the date that it expires. If you drive a vehicle in the UK that doesn't have a valid MOT, it is considered illegal. That's why it is always best to check when your MOT runs out and get it done before.
Typically a UK vehicles MOT last a year, however MOTs can be renewed up to two to three months prior to when the MOT is due. Therefore if you passed an MOT 2 months before your MOT was due, this would give you 14 months MOT.
